Some Good News

July 21, 2017 by Meg Decker

Home prices, rent rates, low inventory – real estate is making all kinds of headlines in the trade and mainstream news. Staying informed is great, but very often, the stories that make it to the news don’t tell the whole story. There’s a few reasons for this – including the fact that most TV reporters who do real estate stories are unfamiliar with the business and miss significant things that industry insiders would point out. Stories about low inventory for example can discourage people into thinking it’s no use even considering homeownership because there’s nothing out there to buy and the fact that home prices continue to rise in urban Minneapolis, the Twin Cities metro and nationwide on month-over-month and year-over-year bases can cause anxiety about the ability to afford a home today or in the future. Here’s some good news: Concerns raised over home availability and affordability are real; however, they’re absolutely navigable if you have the right information and representation.

Today’s real estate market is fast. Here at DRG, we frequently sell our listings before they make it to the Multiple Listing Service because we have a stable of people ready to buy homes. Some of those folks have found us through our past clients, work in the community and other outreach, but many others are renters in properties we manage who have taken the steps to get in position to buy. On the other side, we also have properties in our inventory that landlords are willing to sell if a buyer comes along. These scenarios happen often due to our 10 years of operation and relationship building in urban Minneapolis. Times and situations like these are when consumers need professionals with access to the most up-to-date information the most.

Whether you own a loft, condo or single family home or you’d like to buy one today or in the future, it’s important to connect with a great real estate and lending team. Some people need some time to get in position to put their property on the market and decide where they wish to go next, while others may need to do some work to get pre-approved for a mortgage. This is common – and it’s absolutely OK! The time to talk with a Realtor and loan officer isn’t when you think you’re ready to do something, it’s actually when you first start thinking about it. We can bring you information that can affect not only your decision, but your timeline. Once you know all of your options, we show you a plan to reach your goal when you’re ready and able. Real estate is a fun topic that affects everyone because we all need a place to live (we might be a little partial). It’s important not to draw conclusions or make big decisions without getting the full story and important details that affect you. We’re happy to do the research and report back to you!
